Recruitment
Information
Formal recruitment at UPS is perfect for both those who are already set on joining Greek Life, as well as those who may be feeling on the fence about it. Recruitment takes place in the fall, and it is partially structured, meaning it is a bit more informal than the typical formal recruitment style modeled by larger Greek institutions. This week of recruitment is PNM (Potential New Member) oriented, relaxed, and allows space for those with busy schedules to have the opportunity to find their fit in our Greek community! Recruitment events consist of casual, one-on-one conversations and group hang outs to get to know one another. PNMs have the opportunity to spend time with every house, allowing them the time to find where they feel at home. Placement is based on mutual selection, prioritizing the connections felt by both the PNMs and the active members. We are so excited to meet you!
A Letter From Vice President of Recruitment, Dori Peloso
Hi Potential New Members!
As Vice President of Recruitment for Pi Beta Phi, I wanted to say welcome to the Greek Life community on our campus! We are so excited to meet you!
Prior to recruitment season in my freshman year, I was nervous about the recruitment process as a whole, feeling like I didn’t know what was to come from it. Between taking classes, meeting new friends, and figuring out how to exist as a college student, I felt unsure about whether or not I wanted to go through the recruitment process and join a new organization. After deciding to give it a try, I found a community of incredible people with so much passion, and I truthfully cannot imagine life without them. Getting the chance to learn about the philanthropy that Pi Phi is committed to, and then seeing the deep bond that people in the house have with each other, helped me to understand that there was an exciting new space that I was welcomed into on campus and that it was a space I was really interested in being in.
While Greek Life is not a huge part of campus life at the University of Puget Sound, it is a community that I have found so much value engaging in, whether through philanthropic activities or events together. Pi Phi is so excited to meet everyone who is looking to go through recruitment this year, regardless of what house they join!
I can’t wait to meet you all! Yay!
Love, Dori Peloso

Pi Phi provides countless leadership opportunities! Whether it be holding a position on the Executive Team, a Director position, or being an active member, the opportunities for personal, intellectual, and professional growth are endless! The connections a sorority provides are extremely beneficial! Not to mention the fun events! Pi Phi hosts regular Friendship events, such as Murder Mystery parties and Sock Off, AKA wrestling to see who can take the other’s sock off first! Long story short, Pi Phi provides opportunities for growth and fun, all while positively impacting your collegiate experience as a whole, and life beyond it!

You get out what you put in! Each house holds weekly meetings, usually on Monday nights. But other than that, most of your engagement is up to your discretion! We encourage that you participate in the fun events such as Friendships, mixers with the other sororities and fraternities, and formals, but we do understand that life happens and school always comes first!

That is okay! After formal recruitment officially closes, a COB (Continuous Open Bidding) period will open. During that time, you can continue to spend time with the houses casually, getting to know them all until you find your fit, and you decide the time is right.
